Ambassador meets Mr. Bernd Krüger of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
Mr. Bernd Krüger, Desk Officer for Sri Lanka in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) called on HE the Ambassador Manori Unambuwe on 30th September 2021 and updated on German development cooperation in Sri Lanka. HE the Ambassador thanked the German government for the support extended to Sri Lanka over the years through GIZ, especially in the field of vocational and technical training. Ambassador also appealed to BMZ to reconsider including Sri Lanka as a partner country for future funding of projects, focused on education and vocational training-
During her visit to Bremen, HE the Ambassador met with Mr. Frank Imhoff, President of the Bremen Parliament and discussed the importance of furthering relations between Sri Lanka and Bremen and agreed to work closely in exploring the avenues for strengthening cooperation.
HE Ambassador Manori Unambuwe met with His Worship Mayor, President of the Senate of the free Hanseatic City of Bremen who is also the Senator for Culture and Religious Affairs and discussed possible avenues for furthering relations between Sri Lanka and Bremen.
Nihal S. Samarasinha has been appointed as Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka for three Federal States in Germany, which includes Hessen, Rheinland Palatinate and Saarland.
Ambassador Manori Unambuwe met with Dr. Mario Protzmann, Managing Director and Don Sithijaya Lakmanaarachchi, Director, Exports of Maltaflor International GmbH on potential collaboration with Sri Lanka on its transition to organic agriculture on 9 August 2021 at the Embassy premises.
A very fruitful discussion was held between HE the Ambassador Manori Unambuwe and Ms. Louise Luttikholt, Executive Director, IFOAM Organics International, on extending support for Sri Lanka in its organic agriculture initiative. The discussion centred around support and cooperation from IFOAM in the implementation of a National Plan of Action´on organic agriculture through expert input on policies, harmonizing Sri Lanka organic standards to meet international standards, capacity building of agricutlure officers and support in marketing of organic produce internationally.
