Casual Staff for the Pavilion of Sri Lanka during “Internationale Tourismus Börse” (ITB) 2018

ITB1Sri Lanka will be represented by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau at the ITB 2018 which will be held from 06th to 11th March 2018 at Messe Berlin GmbH (Hall 5.2a), Messedamm 22, 14055 Berlin. In view of this Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin is looking for qualified and motivated young applicants with Sri Lankan background to support in the pavilion of Sri Lanka. The identified candidates are expected to assist the Embassy and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in receiving the guests to the booth, providing information on tourist attractions, preparation of tea for the visitors, assisting VIPs, directing inquiries to the officers of SLTPB and carry out any other duties assigned related to the event.


Seventh Day Alms Giving for Late Dr. Karunatilaka Amunugama

Almsgiving1The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin organized an alms giving to mark the seventh day since the passing away of late Dr. Karunatilaka Amunugama (former Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany) on Wednesday 20th December 2017, with the participation of representatives from the Sri Lanka organizations in Berlin and the East Asian Association Hamburg at the Embassy premises.

CeremonyAmunugama2A religious ceremony in remembrance of late Dr. Karunatilaka Amunugama (Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Sri Lanks to Germany) was held on Sunday 17 December 2017 at the Buddhistische Gesellschaft in Berlin, with the participation of Maha Sangha and the Sri Lankan Community in Berlin.

Former Ambassador Karunatilaka Amunugama passed away

AmunugamaThe Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin is deeply saddened by the passing-away of former Foreign Secretary and Ambassador, Karunatilaka Amunugama. Ambassador Amunugama served as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany between September 2013 and September 2017. He will be remembered for his hard work and dedication to promote the good relations between Sri Lanka and Germany. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin extends heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

The remains of former Ambassador Karunatilaka Amunugama lie at the “Respect Home” of Jayarathna’s, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 08, Sri Lanka. The cremation will be at 2.30 p.m. on Friday, 15th December 2017 at Borella Kanatta, Sri Lanka.

First official visit to Bremen of the new Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany

Bremen1Ambassador Karunasena Hettiarachchi paid an official visit to Bremen from 13-15 November 2017. Following a ceremonial welcome, discussions were conducted with Bremen Mayor Carsten Sieling on political and economic developments in Sri Lanka since 2015. Ideas about future cooperation opportunities were exchanged during the meeting.
