More than 450 guests including ambassadors and diplomats from Antigua-Babuda, Ghana, Great Britain, India, Japan, Malta, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia and leading personalities from the German business community were present.

The Bavarian Finance State Secretary Albert Füracker informed about this result of globalization in Munich. The occasion was one of Germany-wide several receptions on occasion of the diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Germany existing for 60 years. As representative of his home country, the artist Jayantha Gomes living in Calw was present.

The Best Children's Literature Award in English was won by Mr. Neville Perera for his book 'Kitty and the Bell Necklace'.

Consul of Sri Lanka for Bremen Mr. Thomas Kriwat and H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany organized an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and Germany at the Kunsthalle Bremen, a renowned art museum in Bremen. A large number of Germans, Sri Lankan expatriates, Bremen Business community, students, the staff of the Jakobs University and the Embassy staff participated in the event.

11th South Asia Day at the University of Hamburg, Germany

The University of Hamburg in collaboration with Sri Lanka Association in Hamburg organized the 11th South Asia Day at the University. This is the 11th successive year the university organized the event focussing on South Asia. Sri Lanka became partner country with the university for this year as Sri Lanka and Germany celebrating the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
