The event was hosted by, Ambassador of Indonesia, Dewi Gustina Tobing, and the Heads of Mission of the four other ASEAN Member States in Colombo, High Commissioner of Malaysia, Tan Yang Thai, Ambassador of Myanmar, Han Thu, Ambassador of Thailand, Poj Harnpol, and Ambassador of Vietnam, Ho Thi Thanh Truc.

I, Dhammika Sasanayake, Secretary-General of Parliament, do hereby notify in terms of Section 17 of the Presidential Elections (Special Provisions) Act No. 2 of 1981 that the Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Member of Parliament, has been declared elected by Parliament on Wednesday, the 20th of July 2022 as the Eighth Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in terms of Section 11 of the aforesaid Act.

Media Release - Foreign Minister meets with Chinese Ambassador

PeirisXiMinister of Foreign Affairs, Professor G.L. Peiris met with the Ambassador of China, Qi Zhenhong, on 30 June, 2022 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following the exchange of pleasantries, Minister Peiris appreciated China’s continued assistance to Sri Lanka. The Foreign Minister also apprised the Ambassador of the current situation in the country and the shortage of fuel, food and pharmaceutical equipment which have adversely affected the economy of Sri Lanka. The Minister added that bilateral partners and international agencies are in regular discussions to address these challenges.
