The Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin celebrates Deepavali on 29th October 2016

The Sri Lankan community in Berlin celebrated Deepavali, also known as the ‘Festival of Lights’ organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Berlin on Saturday, 29th October 2016 at Sri Ganesha Temple in Hasenheide, Berlin.

A large gathering of devotees irrespective of their religions joined hands together with their brethren Hindus as one Sri Lankan community to celebrate this hallowed festival, which spiritually signifies the victory over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair. All those who were gathered at the Hindu Temple followed the rituals and prayed together.

City Councilors and Politicians from District Neukölln and Senior Officials of Asian countries also graced the event.
A special ‘Pooja’ was performed by reverend Gurukal Srinivas of Sri Ganesh Temple bestowing blessings upon the people of Sri Lanka and the guests who were present at the event. Ambassador Amunugama praised the participants, for their keenness to attend the event thus creating harmony among the Sri Lankans in Germany.

The event highlighted the importance of sharing love and affection among each other to forget and forgive the differences and to move forward for the betterment of the country and for the people of Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Embassy with the support of the Sri Lankan community prepared delicious Hindu traditional food (Blessed Prasad) and was served for the participants at the end of the occasion.
