Emphasizing the importance of promoting inter-faith harmony, with the participation of the Sri Lankan community and representatives from the Sri Lanka Associations in Berlin, the Embassy of Sri Lanka hosted an Iftar for the second consecutive year on Thursday, 30 May 2019 in the Embassy premises. The Ambassadors of Bangladesh, Maldives and Egypt also graced the event.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi highlighted that the ethnic diversity of Sri Lanka is well represented among the Sri Lankan community in Berlin and the Embassy, together with the community, has made Iftar an opportunity to display the religious and ethnic harmony despite the recent calamities, which broke out in the motherland due to the Easter Sunday attacks.
Moulavi Klich enlightened the participants on the importance of maintaining harmony and goodwill among the followers of different religions and how Islam advocates this principle.
The programme was concluded with traditional breaking of fast dinner and prayers.
