On invitation by the Swiss President of the Confederation, Didier Burkhalter, the diplomatic corps accredited in Switzerland undertook a visit to the republic and canton of Neuchatel in Switzerland. H.E. Sarath Kongahage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany, was part of the delegation including Mr. Burkhalter and his spouse Mrs. Friedrun Sabine Burkhalter.
From the Swiss capital Berne, the visiting delegation of diplomats travelled to Neuchatel, where they met local dignitaries, and then visited the Institute of Micro-Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Lausanne operating in Neuchatel. During the visit, Ambassador Kongahage requested officials of the institute to explore the possibilities of investment in Sri Lanka.
After a lunch hosted by the President of the Confederation, the diplomats visited the clock-manufacturing city of La Chaux de Fonds. During a meeting with officials of the La Chaux de Fonds, Ambassador Kongahage briefed the economic-friendly environment of Sri Lanka for manufacturing companies on the island.
