Ambassador Sarrath Kongahage was chief guest at the 29th anniversary of the Bonn Cricket Club held on 26th May 2012. The 29th anniversary of the club was celebrated with a musical evening by renowned names in the Sri Lanka music industry 'Bathiya and Santhush'. The former captain of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and Member of Parliament Mr. Arjnua Ranatunge graced the event as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, H E the Ambassador said that it was very encouraging to see how the Sri Lankan community in Bonn was enthusiastically engaging in promoting community activities, thereby increasing the image of Sri Lanka among the people in Germany. He wished the club and all its members' success and a promising and bright future for all its activities.
In the 29 years of its existence, the Bonn Cricket Club has won many tournaments at home and abroad, including the league title in North-Rhine Westphalia. At present, the team has three top players representing Germany at national level.
