First Anniversary of H.E. the President’s Inauguration in Office

DSC04585The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin commemorated the first anniversary of the inauguration in office of President Maithripala Sirisena, on 8th January 2016, with the participation of religious dignitaries representing Buddhists, Hindu, Islam and Christian faiths and also with the representatives of Sri Lanka Associations based in Berlin.

Chief incumbents of the Berlin Maha Vihara and Berlin Sambodhi International Centre - Ven. Dikvelle Seelasumana Thero, Ven. Kongaspitiye Shantharakkitha Thero, Ven. Rabukwelle Devananda Thero together with other religious dignitary representing the Hindu - Rev. Krukkal Ravi, Islam - Rev. Imam Quari Faiz Ahmed and Christian - Rev. Johannes Krug, invoked blessings on President Maithripala Sirisena, the Government and the people of Sri Lanka for success, prosperity and harmony.

Speaking at the occasion, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. highlighted the importance; the new Government has given towards creating a society in which ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity is respected, celebrated and valued. She also made reference to the Government’s approach in promoting dialogue, cooperation, understanding and learning as means of finding solutions to overcome current issues in the country.

On behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. urged Sri Lankans who wish our country success, to support and strengthen the new Government’s historic and committed journey fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Sri Lanka.

The religious blessings were followed by offering of alms to the religious dignitaries.
