The Sri Lankan Embassy in Berlin held a ceremonial commencement of work for year 2016 on 1st January. The event started with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Charge d’ Affaires a.i. in the presence of the staff, which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. A two minute silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Affirming their commitment, the reading of the oath of public servants was administered by the staff of the Embassy in three languages, Sinhala, Tamil & English.
Charge d’ Affaires a.i. extended her warm wishes for the New Year and commended the achievements of the Mission during the year 2015. She requested continuous support and dedication of the staff in order to achieve success in all goals strengthening of bilateral relations with the Governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and Swiss Confederation in the dawning year.
The ceremony concluded with the staff of the Mission partaking in a customary breakfast table.
