The newly arrived Sri Lankan Ambassador Karunatilaka Amunugama has recently paid courtesy calls on the Minister / Deputy Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Konrad Arz von Straussenburg, the Director General for Asia and Pacific Affairs, Ambassador Peter Prügel, the Chief of Staff and the Head of the Minister's office, Ambassador Jens Plötner, the Head of the South Asia Division, Heike Dettmann, and the Desk Officer of the South Asia Division, Fabian Richter, at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
The senior officials warmly welcomed Ambassador Amunugama and conveyed their warm best wishes for his tenure of office as Sri Lankan Ambassador in Berlin. They discussed the strengthening of the long-standing friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Germany in various fields, including socio-political affairs, trade and economic affairs, science and technology as well as culture and other fields.
Ambassador Amunugama expressed his sincere gratitude for the great contribution by the officials of the Federal Foreign Office in consolidating bilateral relations and conveyed his high expectations in continued support during his tenure of office. They all assured their fullest cooperation towards that end.
