Certified copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates registered under Sri Lankan law could be obtained from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin. Applicants should bring the available copy of the certificate, and the certified copy will be issued on the same day, (if available in the e-BMD system)

• Or from the Consular Division of this Embassy between 9.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.

Obtaining a Birth/Marriage/Death certificate (Extract) occurred in Germany

• Duly filled application form should be forwarded to this Embassy along with a copy of the certificate (if available)
• PAYMENT – €22/- per copy (can be paid by Cash, Debit/Credit card or bank transfer)

OTHER INFORMATION

• • If the certificates and documents are to be returned by post, the applicant should provide a self-addressed prepaid envelope along with the application form. Applications sent without prepaid special delivery cover or postage will be retained until the applicant collects it personally.
  • If the applicant is unable to collect the Certificate/ documents personally, he/she may authorise another person, in writing. The person who comes for collection of documents should produce his identity and the original receipt issued by this Embassy.

• Note: The Embassy will not take any responsibility for documents lost in the post.
• All incomplete applications will be returned, and payment will not be refunded.
• Before making request for obtaining a certified copy of Birth/ Marriage/ Death by post it is advisable to make an inquiry via consular.berlin@mfa.gov.lk to check whether your certificate is available in the system in order to avoid unnecessary delays / complications.

If the Certificate is not available in the e-BMD system, the applicants must make a direct request to the relevant Divisional Secretariat Office in Sri Lanka or:
