Application for Temporary / Emergency Travel Documents
A Temporary/Emergency Travel Document valid for one month may be issued to enable a Sri Lanka national to return to Sri Lanka in case of an emergency in the following circumstances.

- The original passport is lost/damaged/stolen
- The original passport is expired
- Who does not have a Passport or a Travel Document and wishes to return to Sri Lanka subject to prove his/her Sri Lankan citizenship
Temporary Travel Documents are valid for 01 month from the date of issuance and issued for the sole purpose of returning to Sri Lanka. The applicants cannot travel to any other country by using a Temporary / Emergency passport or cannot use it to obtain a visa to further stay in the Germany.
The applicants are required to visit the Consular Section of this Mission in person for an interview to obtain a Temporary/Emergency Travel Document.

Please bring the following documents when you visit the Embassy for your appointment
Required Documents:
- A letter requesting an Emergency Travel Document
- Duly filled K35A application. Instructions to fill the Passport Application (K35A)
- 4 photos/passport photos should show the “direct face without spectacles”, both ears and the complete head must be visible (biometric & photo size 3.5cm * 4.5cm)
- Original Birth Certificate
- Original Sri Lankan National Identity Card (NIC)
- Police report, Complaint Form & a letter from the relevant City/District) granted by the German Government (translation of the letter into English) and previous passport copy (If the previous passport is lost)
- Expired Passport & copies of the data page and observation page (If available) OR any document which can be used to prove applicant’s citizenship status and identification (i.e. Sri Lankan Birth Certificate and Sri Lanka National Identity Card)
- Relevant Citizenship Certificate issued by the Department of Immigration & Emigration (If the applicant is born outside Sri Lanka or a citizen by registration)
- Travel Itinerary/Air ticket (14 days ahead)
- If the applicant is a child under 16 years, the following documents are additionally required

- Consent from both parents
- Copies of parent’s current passports (Data page, observation/alteration pages and child inclusion pages)
- Valid current visa in the Germany
- Other appropriate documents (such as the decision of the court if parents have divorced, death certificate if one or both parents are deceased, documentary evidence with regards to the legal guardianship / custody of minor)

Note: The child and both parents should be present to hand over the application
Fees:
- Temporary/Emergency Travel Document Application Fee: €48.00
- Temporary/Emergency Travel Document Application Fee in lieu of a lost Passport: €151.00
