All Nations Festival 2011

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin, for the eleventh consecutive year, participated in the “All Nations Festival” held in Berlin on 02 nd July 2011 from 11.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs at the Chancery premises.The doors of the Embassy were opened to the German public and to the Sri Lankan expatriate community to have a glimpse of the country. The Open Day in summer is one of the regular calendar events of the Embassy’s promotional activities.

At the Festival the Embassy showcased the diversity and the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka and promoted it as a destination for tourism, trade and investment. The Chancery and its garden were turned into a mini Sri Lankan bazaar show-casing artefacts, andicrafts, Sri Lankan gems and jewelleries, culinary delights products, Ceylon tea and music. Homemade traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry were very popular with the German visitors. The aroma of the Sri Lankan fruits and sweets also attracted the visitors.Mr. Rohan Serasinghe and Mrs. Ursa Jordan participated in the event with exhibition of gems, jewelleries and various craft items.Mrs. Aranka Chandrasiri, artist domiciled in Germany performed a painting exhibition at the event.Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and “information stalls” attracted many visitors to gather information on tourism in Sri Lanka. Tourism promotional films were screened hroughout the day for the visitors.Another highlight of the day’s event was the Sri Lankan music and traditional dance performances by the children of Sri Lankan expatriates living in Berlin. A traditional “Pooja Dance” performed by Jasmin and Jessica was much admired by the visitors.

A Tamil classical dance and “Bharatha Nadyam” performed by Ms. Sathiyakanthan Shauthri and Ms. Puvaneswaran Bruntha, “Cool Running” led by Prabath Rupasinghe attracted many visitors to the event.

The Open Day at the Embassy drew massive crowds and the visitors were overwhelmed by the warmth and friendly atmosphere.
